We Know the Devil Steam Deck controls

In game, Options > Game > check the box that says "progress with scroll wheel". Then A, down on Dpad, and L1 can be used to advance. Right trackpad and R2 used for mouse and clicking to navigate menu and make the occasional choice. Runs pretty smoothly on Deck this way.
